Andrew Thomas Huang

is an L.A. based commercial and music video director who behind special effects laden pieces for Avi Buffalo , Delphic and Ra Ra Riot among others. Huang’s mastery of digital trickery and eye for stunning cinematography though has reached dizzying new heights with his ten minute short SOLIPSIST whose title comes from the philosophical theory defined above. This title is incredibly apt as reality (or at least our understanding of it) is Huang’s favourite plaything, his award winning piece warping it in an exquisite manner.

SOLIPSIST’s stunning palette of colour and a tone that would perfectly suit a Björk video make for an engaging watch which delivers surprising visual treats out with almost reckless abandon. Indeed, Huang”s 2007 short ‘Doll Face

‘ is somewhat reminiscent of the Chris Cunningham masterpiece for Björk’s 2009 single ‘All is Full of Love’, suggesting that Mr. Cunningham perhaps discovered Mr. Huang long before we did.
