Fred Eerdekens is an artist whose canvas is a little out of the ordinary. The Belgian’s sculptures may well seem meaningless  outside of the context of the precisely lit galleries  in which they are presented, but in this environment the impeccable composition of each piece is really quite astounding.

Shadows are created on the walls beyond or indeed against which his pieces are set revealing messages which are as poetic in both their creation and means of articulation. Working with an interesting array of media  ranging from copper wire, to artificial trees, Styrofoam™ and even water (I was tempted to ™ water then) to create these pieces, Eerdekens displays a masterful understanding of playing with light, creating works that are technically baffling yet beautifully simple in their eventual effect.
