Savages

Thus far 2012 has seen a couple of themes emerge as far as I can tell. Firstly, Canada has firmly re-announced its rich pedigree by producing a frightening amount of brilliant new music and secondly, supreme and somewhat mysterious all-girl four pieces are emerging from the shadows at a resplendent rate.

With regard to the latter trend, no sooner had the dust momentarily settled after Manchester-based PINS turned us upside down with their marvellous guitar driven début single

, another quartet of femme fatales have signalled their intent to mesmerise us with a stripped back, visceral sound. The Londoners’ first ever gig took place at the Shacklewell Arms (where they return tomorrow night ) in January and quite frankly stole the show from their support slot, much to the dismay I imagine of British Sea Power who headlined that night. The following video of their opening number has since acted as a powerful vehicle for the hype machine as a fervour of expectation and excitement has been whipped up.

Today, ahead of their appearance at Field Day

this Saturday in Victoria Park, the band have released their début single through Pop Noire Records, which is available from today on iTunes  with a limited 7″ record following soon. As the sound of opening track Husbands rips through the morning haze of KLLKT’s temporary Essex Road base of operations, I can do little else other than sit back and reflect upon $1.98 that will rarely be better spent. Rather than talk you through the release, I simply urge you to follow my (unusually) prudent financial advice and invest.
