Crown Heights and Prospect Park retain a strong identity that is unmistakably Brooklyn as you make it down to the warrior’s haven, the bay of broken dreams that is Coney Island. Coney acts as the beachfront headquarters of some of NYC’s most subversive dwellers, the promenade and piers swell with drunks, vagrants, misguided fishermen and the occasional Chinese wedding photo-shoot. That said, it is a magical place and although clearly neglected the past couple of decades, its eerie state of dilapidation and abandonment make for a captivating insight into the underbelly of this phenomenal city.
