‘Who would dare assign to art the sterile function of imitating nature?’

The velvet curtains are swept aside. Aspirations of grandeur may not be intended in Hadrian’s subject matter, despite his confessed admiration for Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, but his music isn’t unadulterated. As a sound engineer, he values the power of simplicity, and while his stripped down title is very much evocative of a certain landmark, it is also concealing (his real name being, Pierre-Hadrian). Lazy punners might describe it as a ‘wall of sound’

There seems to be a disparity between his aims to not be a stereotypically serious musician, yet it is difficult not to be serious about music when you care. Songs here are used like private letters that we happen upon ‘She’s hiding from the sun. She is too afraid to get burn’t, to feel the heat.’ We find ourselves in an atmosphere of reverie, and an attempt at mise en abyme. Curious colours drape upon this melancholy illusion.
