Recorded in Bamako, the nation’s bustling capital, this piece carried by a remarkable vocal intensity is enriched through the freedom of each of the instruments: bass solos, unpredictable improvisations on flutes and marimbas, all at a frantic disco pace. The Daphni (Caribou) edit is largely unchanged from the original version except for vocals and some carefully applied scattered delays, at least until the fourth minute, when the song takes a turn for the dub and minimalist, to the delight of the majority of DJs.
