In the latest of my series of swift interviews I caught up with San Diego noise band Crocodiles a.k.a Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell. Having recently released their third LP Endless Flowers the pair’s group have been on the road but found time to discuss the album’s name, film and fragrances.

have just released our third album.

K: Your new album ‘Endless Flowers’ is out in June, so now ? Can you tell us a bit about that and where the album name actually came from?

C: The name came from a song. There are a few references to flowers in the lyrics. We were definitely reading Baudelaire a bit.

K: The name ‘Endless Flowers’ kind of reminds me of a perfume. What fragrance do you all use?

C: Tom Ford

K: What’s your best knock-knock joke?

C: Knock-knock,

Who’s there?

9-11

9-11 who?

I thought you said you’d never forget!

K: I just watched the video to ‘Sunday’. Pretty cool. The part where the flowers appear and you see flashes of the cross is crazy. Don’t you ever find it awkward posing for pictures or performing in music videos? I always subconsciously pout…

C: That sort of thing always depends on the director. We’ve only worked with our friends and so it’s a lot more relaxed. It’s quite the opposite though when we’re at photo shoots. Those suckers can get weird.

K: If you had one film that you could have been in, what would it be and why?

C: Clockwork Orange. It has always been one of my favorites. The Milk Bar is my kind of hang out, real horror show.

K: Before going on stage do you have a ritual to get you all pumpin’?

C: Drink heavily and listen to Jimmy London.
